KarrArikh Tor returns to Infinisynth with some of the hardest hitting songs they have performed yet. Spiral Default 2013 contains 14 new recordings for Infinisynth fans to feast on. Mixing distorted guitars with thumping bass, pounding drums, ambient keyboards and orchestral movements, KarrArikh expands the rock genres farther, gaining a sound and voice of his own.

Spiral Default 2013 begins with the song, Immortal, a satirical question about the world we live in. Infinigroove, the release’s rock anthem, is the second track followed by The Fall, a Subnormal Episodes song originally written in 1993. The album then moves into the serious dilemma of having to choose sides inSides. The release continues with Family, one of the Power Machine Saga songs about Johnny. Ballad is the sixth track, followed by the driving I am MACHINE. Next is the jazzy Interpretations featuring guest backing vocals by Kylyra. The ninth track is Leaves, an early KarrArikh song reworked with lyrics from his university days.

The tenth through thirteenth tracks are a new song run, called the Soundwaves saga, which began with a single melody. The first three songs play and repeat the melody in three different manners.Soundwaves I is the instrumental opening. Soundwaves II is a bouncy song and has the first words. This is the light side of sound waves, but brings up the concept of “the sound of balance”. Soundwaves III is a darker industrial song. Here the concept of “the sound of balance” is questioned. Soundwaves IV is the conclusion to the sound wave saga. The concept of “the sound of balance” is realised as perception, ending in a resolution of the original melody.

The closing track on Spiral Default 2013 is a progressive jazz rock instrumental called Glimpse of Futures. “It is an instrumental track which began with a perfect fifth resonation, and grew into the first song where I actually play a diminished chord in. It is a jazzy rock song which fades out (also a first for Infinisynth, but not because I was lazy, it was the mood and feel I wanted for ending the release). I enjoyed playing it and think it follows the Soundwaves saga well. I also think it ends the release with a less dark feel than other Infinisynth albums end, less shadow.”

This is the fourteenth new song I wrote for a new Infinisynth release. It is an instrumental track which began with a perfect fifth resonation, and grew into the first song where I actually play a diminished chord in. It is a jazzy rock song which fades out (also a first for Infinisynth, but not because I was lazy, it was an idea I had for ending the release).

November news

Eight months of studio work and Infinisynth has finished writing their new release, working title of the album is Spiral Default 2013. KarrArikh Tor is thrilled with how the album has progressed. Fourteen songs will fill the new release, with only final vocals and guitar leads needed before final mixes are done. KarrArikh has uploaded rough mixes of twelve songs onto SoundCloud with more coming (some will have rough vocal tracks, some are music-only), allowing fans hear the new release as it grows. He is presently rehearsing vocals and leads. “The album is all I could have hoped for. I am especially excited by the new Soundwave Saga, which is much lighter lyrically than other sagas. I hope to begin putting up vocal mixes up on SoundCloud in the next weeks.” Empty Pages, a new bonus track added to the release What Remains in the MACHINE…, is also on SoundCloud for fans to hear (http://soundcloud.com/infinisynth).

Shott Crawler, singer of the band Shaky Dawg, is talking with the band about future studio plans. Look for new mixes showing up in the next months of some older tracks and a couple new songs for our fans to enjoy.

Infinisynth - untitled music 004

INFINISYNTH - untitled music 004

This is the another of new songs I am writing for Infinisynth. I wrote the music first for this song, but words kept coming to mind as I added more instruments. I kept writing down the various words or lines and recorded a rough vocal the minute I felt I had a full lyrical idea. I had recently been listening to Ella sing “How High The Moon”, and I originally thought I might scat both verses. But the day after recording a version with scat verses, I woke with more words. Then after recording a new vocal with words in the verses, I realised I did not like the words pointing only at someone else. The lyrics are just a simple statement about communication, so I flipped the perception in the last choruses. So this is the third rough vocal, and is close to what I will sing for the final version. I am also close to naming the song (I kinda hate numbered tracks these days, I need a name for my songs). I originally thought this guitar lead was only a rough, but this performance has been growing on me, we’ll see what I think when vocals are done. As writing songs go, I had wanted to write a song with a long lead section in the middle. The lead area was written first, with the song the written backwards to justify the lead section, at least that was the goal. I put this mix online for my fans to hear the songs as they are written, a behind the scenes to the new release Alex and I are doing.

Infinisynth - The Fall

INFINISYNTH - The Fall

This is another of the new songs I am writing for Infinisynth. This is one of the original ‘Subnormal Episodes’ tracks from 1993, but unlike the released songs, the original recording was mostly keyboards (heavy Depeche Mode influence) drums and vocals but got damaged. The song was only performed a few times live. The sequences and keyboard used got stolen in 1997 and the song never got a releasable version, but I missed the song. I went guitar heavy on this version, and played all keyboards live, instead of using a sequencer. I also added a lead section and shortened the chorus. The guitar lead is a rough to help me memorise where I wanted to move. It is 94% correct, just played kinda sloppily. I put this mix online for my fans to hear the songs as they are written, a behind the scenes to the new release Alex and I are doing.

Infinisynth - Immortal

INFINISYNTH - Immortal

This is another of the new songs I am writing for Infinisynth. This song was originally the opening to Germania Saga. It was played with orchestral sounds without vocals or drums and played through the parts only once with some parted played out longer than the new version. I had liked the melodies and spent weeks trying to arrange them for bass and guitar (which were absent in the Germania Saga version). I had intended for it to be the opener of the new release, and to be an instrumental. But as soon as I started getting the side guitars, bass, and drums in I began to hear words. I recorded something as soon as I had finished writing it. Next days I awoke with changes, and that is the recording I have here. I had accidentally hit a button before singing, and ended up with an odd effect which amused me so I recorded it to hear what sounded like on playback in an iPod. I may do something similar on the final, maybe not. I don’t know yet. I put this mix online for my fans to hear the songs as they are written, a behind the scenes to the new release Alex and I are doing.

He is presently working on lyrics for the three songs as he begins writing music for the tenth song (the ninth is another new version of an older song).
